Fides, lat.: the string, the lyre, the playing of strings. Also: trust, a constellation, an asteroid. ein Sternbild, ein Asteroid.
In this case “Fides” refers to the duo of Anna Neubert (violin) and Leonhard Spies (guitar) that travels between the possibilities and boundaries of this ten-string ensemble, between eras, styles, and genres.
More
Since its conception in 2014 at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln Fides has worked to discover extremely diverse music through adaptations and intense investigation: virtuoso works of Paganini and Guiliani meet arrangements of Schubert’s music, works of 20th century Spanish composers meet medieval Sephardic music.
Performances of this program have taken place and take place among others at the Festival Bunte Kirchen, at the Polish Cultural Institute Düsseldorf, at the Beethovenhaus Bonn, or in the series “Early Music between East and West”.
Fides received significant artistic impulses by the Cuarteto Casals and Roberto Aussel.
